Susan Boyle’s The Gift 2

I downloaded (from ITunes, so yes, I purchased it) Susan Boyle’s new album, The Gift.

It has some of my favorite Christmas songs on it, such as Do You Hear What I Hear and O Holy Night. The latter song is especially poignant to me – I’ll tell you the story some other time.

For now, let me rave. I thought her voice was beautiful in I Dreamed a Dream, but these songs are wonderful. Listening to them has been a joy.

Something Elemental 4

I love the sound of drums, and I haven’t the slightest idea why. Maybe it’s because they’re elemental, earthy – whatever.

I love Taiko drums, because it’s a whole body instrument. I think a Taiko drum should be mandatory equipment in every house. That way, when you’re going through a Snark Attack, you could go to town on the drum. After a few minutes of sweating, you wouldn’t be or annoyed by anything!

Here’s the Celtic drum, the bodhrán:

And…the Spirit of Scotland drummers in the middle of Glasgow:

Okay, that makes bagpipes and drums that I love. How about you? Any elemental music or musical instruments?
