The Sesqu…what? 4

2011 is the sesquicentennial of the start of the Civil War. In other words, it was 150 years ago that The Late Unpleasantness (some of my Kentucky relatives called it that for years) began.

How brilliant am I?

A Borrowed Scot features a hero who’s a survivor of the Civil War. Montgomery Fairfax began as an observer, then was assigned a regiment of his own. I didn’t portray any battle scenes, because Montgomery has suffered enough.

Now, I wish I could say that it was all planned, that I was fully aware of the sesquicentennial, but the truth is, I didn’t realize it until I read something yesterday.

I think it’s a case of serendipity, don’t you?
